This is completely fake news. However, the origin story of how this myth was born is actually a fascinating piece of internet viral history.

Where Did the “Ice Wall Exile” Story Come From?

The entire viral sensation is actually a summary of a popular science-fiction and fantasy book series called TERRA-INFINITA, written by an author named Claudio Nocelli.

Specifically, the videos are summarizing the plot of the first book: The Navigator Who Crossed the Ice Walls: Worlds Beyond the Antarctica.

In this fictional book:

A 19th-century navigator named William Morris manages to sail past the massive ice cliffs of Antarctica.

Beyond the ice, he discovers an infinite plane containing 178 hidden worlds, giant ancient civilizations, and new advanced human societies.

He is ultimately intercepted by the “Custodians”—a secret group keeping humanity trapped behind the ice wall—and is forced into exile.

Why is it Going Viral on Facebook and TikTok?

This story has blown up online because content creators are intentionally blurring the lines between fiction and reality.

Instead of introducing the plot as a book review, creators use clickbait titles like “The Whistleblower They Don’t Want You to Know About” or “Leaked Documents Reveal Truth About Antarctica.”

By treating the fictional character William Morris as a real historical figure, the videos have successfully convinced millions of casual social media users that a massive geographical cover-up was just exposed. It has also become a massive hit within the online “Flat Earth” community, which frequently uses the concept of an Antarctic ice wall to claim the Earth is flat.

The Real Reality of Antarctica

In the real world, Antarctica is a frozen continent, not a massive wall enclosing a flat earth.
